BREAKING!!!
In a dramatic turn in the investigation into the Friday, December 26 murder of overseas-based pensioner Athlone Goring, police sources have disclosed that two of his grandchildren are the prime suspects in his killing.
The victim’s 22-year-old granddaughter and 20-year-old grandson have been in police custody since the 75-year-old was discovered brutally stabbed to death in the upper flat of his Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara home. The suspects reside in the lower flat of the same building.
Investigators reported that there were no signs of forced entry to the victim’s apartment, a detail that has intensified suspicion surrounding those with direct access to the premises. Detectives have also reportedly uncovered additional evidence believed to implicate one of the grandchildren, including an injury observed on one suspect’s hand.
Police are expected to seek legal advice as they move closer to laying possible murder charges.
Goring had recently returned from overseas when he was stabbed multiple times inside his apartment. Big Smith News Watch understands that the two grandchildren told investigators they went upstairs to check on their grandfather after hearing strange noises coming from his flat. They claimed they found him lying on the floor, bleeding profusely.
He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
