A woman and her ex-boyfriend are the prime suspects in the brazen gunning down of truck driver Amar Jones on Tuesday, December 30, at Half Mile, Wismar.

The 24-year-old woman was detained shortly after Jones was fatally shot, while police are actively searching for her former boyfriend, who reportedly has previous encounters with the law.

BIG Smith News Watch understands that Jones had been in a relationship with the woman and that the killing may have stemmed from a recent altercation between the couple.

Investigators believe the woman’s ex-boyfriend was informed of the dispute.

Jones, 27, of One Mile, Wismar, was driving a Canter truck along Half Mile Road at about 15:00 hrs when the occupants of a car—reportedly including a woman—blocked his path.

A male occupant exited the vehicle armed with a 9mm handgun and opened fire on the truck before re-entering the car and fleeing the scene.

Police ranks later found Jones motionless in the driver’s seat of the truck. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have since impounded a vehicle believed to be linked to the attack, which is currently being processed as part of the ongoing investigation.
