Second Autopsy for Adriana Younge Suspicious-Health Minister

Minister of Health Dr. Fank Anthony is contending that a second autopsy on the remains of 11- Year Old Adriana Younge is questionable.
Attorney At Law Darren Wade who is looking into the interest of the Younge’s Family, made a formal request to the Guyana Medical Council on behalf of the family for a second autopsy to be conducted on what is left of the remains of Adriana Younge.
In meetings with the family of the child after her body was pulled from the swimming pool at the Double Day Hotel, East Bank Essequibo, President Irfaan Ali committed to leaving no stones unturned and vowed to offer the family whatever support and request they may have during this difficult time.
“There is now a request for another pathologist to come into the country to do another autopsy but since Monday at the completion of the autopsy the body was handed over to the family and was no longer in police custody. This then, if another autopsy is being done, it will be done but we don’t know since this body was not secured we don’t know what would have happened to the body from Monday to whenever that autopsy would be done and this is something that i am not sure what will be the medical legal effect of that second autopsy”– Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony stated.
In Attorney’s Wade request he asked for a temporary license for Dr. Hubert Daisley to perform a second autopsy on the remains of Adriana Younge. Wade in his letter to the Medical Council of Guyana cited the granting of similar licenses to other persons even without a formal request.
Wade’s letter, dated May 01, 2025 said that it is the wish of the family to have the second autopsy done before the schedule burial of Younge which is set for Monday May 05, 2025. He stated in his letter that if the medical Council fails to act on the request within 12 hours, legal proceedings would be initiated.
Health Minister Anthony also touched on the process of the approval for the temporary license for the doctor, who from all indications, is also in the country.
“There has been a request i understand for this person who is coming in to be accredited by the Medical Council, now the medical council is an independent body and ocne an application is made to the council the council obviously would go through, scrutinizing the application and in its own judgement would make a determination whether that person is fit to practice medicine in Guyana and once they make that conclusion and they make their decision, then that person is either allowed or disallowed to practice here and so my understanding is that a request was made and in due course the medical council would consider that request.” Minister rank Anthony noted.
He said that it seems as if there are elements ‘out there’ who want to delay the process and create controversies in the process and to what end, he is not sure.
The disappearance of Adriana Younge was initially handled badly by the Guyana Police Force with a comedy of errors which contributed to civil unrest in parts of the country.
The police force for its part after realising its lapses, took a number of steps including firing civilian employees who miscommunicated information to law enforcement and several police officers including an Assistant Commissioner of Police were sent on administrative leave as the investigations into the disappearance and subsequent discovery of Adriana’s body are ongoing.
