US Deputy Secretary of State to visit Guyana

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is set to visit Guyana from August 9 to 12 as Washington moves to strengthen economic ties and cooperation with the country.
During his visit, Landau will meet with President Dr Irfaan Ali and members of Cabinet to discuss expanding bilateral economic cooperation and strengthening investment opportunities between Guyana and the United States.
The talks are also expected to focus on strategic sectors, including energy and critical minerals, as both countries seek to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual economic interest.
Landau’s Guyana visit forms part of a wider regional trip that also includes Trinidad and Tobago, where he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to discuss energy, security and economic cooperation.
According to the US Department of State, the visit underscores Washington’s commitment to strengthening partnerships across the Western Hemisphere while advancing shared priorities in regional security, energy resilience and economic prosperity.
