December 8 2025

The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into a reported break-and-enter and larceny at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Brickdam, Georgetown, early Monday morning.

The incident is believed to have occurred between 03:00 hrs and 04:55 hrs on December 8, 2025.

According to preliminary reports, several electronic devices—including laptop computers, tablets, and digital cameras—were stolen, along with personal items belonging to a staff member. Investigators found that parts of the building’s middle and lower flats had been ransacked. An open washroom window on the eastern side of the lower flat is suspected to have been used as the entry point.

Police obtained and reviewed CCTV footage from the premises, which led to the arrest of a 48-year-old male. Several suspected stolen items were also recovered.

The investigation remains ongoing.
