Bartica Taxi Driver Charged with Receiving Stolen Articles

Marlon Jones, a 38-year-old taxi driver of Lot 106 Third Avenue, Bartica, has been formally charged with the offence of receiving stolen articles belonging to Chinese national Jianmei Qiu.

Jones was arrested on June 15, 2025, and subsequently charged on June 17.

He appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, June 18, where the charge was read. Jones pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $80,000.

The matter has been adjourned to July 21, 2025, for continuation.
