Susan delivers to Lust-en-Rust residents

Less than one week after being promised potable water and measures to alleviate walking miles to fetch same, residents of Lust-en-Rust on the West Bank Demerara now have water coming into their yards and through standpipes
“We got it Thursday and we are so thankful for it and we have been living here for a year and a few months now” molly, a resident indicated.
Minister within the Housing Minister Susan Rodrigues visited the community last week along with officials from Guyana Water Inc. and other technical staff where the accessed the situation.
“Well she did promise to give us water and we got this water since last week. I am living here for five years now and I must say that I am relieved that the issues of water which was a big problem for us is now sorted out and we are thankful, all we hope now is that the pressure would be stronger so that it get upstairs into the house” Shantel Smith told BIG Smith News Watch
Minister Rodrigues in her remarks today said that she decided to return to the area to check on the progress of works that were done since her last visit last week in order to get a first-hand look.
Apart from lack of access to water, Rodrigues said that she observed that other issues were plaguing the residents and while they have been able to satisfy the delivery of water promised based on the deadline the ministry gave itself, other works in the community are forthcoming.
“So far I am aware that it is close to a hundred households who now have access to potable water for the first time and I am pleased with the work of the water company especially Mr. Dwayne Shako who is the director of Operations and Ms. Kleen Gordon who is the well engineer,” Rodrigues commented
It was during the visit last week that the Ministry announced that GWI was cleaning out a well in the area in order to service the area.
