What began as a desperate dash for her life ended in bloodshed on Charlotte Street, where 36-year-old Teekadai Atiya Solomon was mercilessly gunned down in broad daylight by her estranged husband, before he turned the weapon on their 10-year-old son and then himself.
According to Police, the horrifying scene unfolded around 11:50 hrs when the gunman, Alroy Solomon, stormed the premises of his wife’s Georgetown apartment.
Moments later, terrified screams were heard, followed by a barrage of gunfire.
Teekadai, wounded and fleeing, collapsed onto the street just outside her apartment after being riddled with bullets.
She was left sprawled motionless on the ground, bleeding profusely as onlookers stood in shock.
Police confirmed she sustained at least nine gunshot wounds — including shots to the chest, abdomen, forehead, arm, hip, leg, and even her finger, suggesting a relentless and brutal attack.
Alroy then turned his gun on their 10-year-old son, shooting the child in the chest, before pulling the trigger on himself. He was discovered slumped in a pool of blood, a single bullet hole to his temple, the murder weapon still by his side.
The boy, who was found writhing in agony, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens. Doctors confirmed he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Investigators recovered a 9mm pistol with a loaded magazine and several live rounds at the scene, along with spent shells littering the blood-soaked yard and street.
The couple had been separated for two months following ongoing domestic issues, with Teekadai relocating with her son to escape the turmoil. But on Tuesday morning, violence tracked her down in the most gruesome way possible.
Both bodies were removed to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home as police continue their investigation into the shocking case that has left the city reeling.
