Assistant Commissioner Pareshram removed as commander

Assistant Commissioner of Police Khali Pareshram has been relieved of his command post at Regional Police Division 4C and is now posted as head of the Strategic Planning Unit of the Guyana Police Force.
Pareshram received his reassignment letter from Assistant Commissioner Administration Ravindradat Bhudram upon his resumption to work following a brief period of leave.
The Guyana Police Force regards the reassignment of officers as a management tool to ensure efficiency.
Recently there has been a ‘war of letters’ between Assistant Commissioners Pareshram and Wendell Blanhum over the placing of bail of a man who was in police custody.
The Criminal Investigation Department handled the matter, and the Divisional Detective had received instructions from the Crime Chief to place the man on bail. Divisional Detectives are assigned to each division but report to the Crime Chief.
It was noted that, when Pareshram became aware of the development, he instructed that the man should not be placed on bail. That resulted in the exchange of strongly worded letters.
Based on the rank structure and the composition of the force hierarchy structure, the Police Special Branch, Administration, Operations and Law Enforcement offices are superior to those held by regional and branch commanders.
The tone of the letter from Assistant Commissioner Pareshram to Assistant Commissioner Blanhum was regarded as insubordinate. This is so, given that Blanhum’s office is superior to that of the Commander’s office.
It is unclear if the letter exchange had anything to do with the reassignment of Assistant Commissioner Pareshram.
