— Faces Additional Fines for Five Other Traffic Offences

October 1, 2025 – A 43-year-old Bartica resident has been fined $250,000 after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) when he appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Delon Devon Gilkes, of Sixth Avenue, Bartica, stood before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed, where he admitted to the DUI charge. The magistrate imposed a $250,000 fine, with an alternative of three months’ imprisonment if the sum is not paid.

In addition to the DUI conviction, Gilkes was hit with five other traffic-related charges, which carried a combined fine of $60,000.
