Timehri driver granted bail over gun charges

A 32-year-old Timehri driver has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence.
The accused, Mashach Campbell of Timehri North Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, appeared on Monday, July 13, 2026, before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him.
Campbell was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without a Licence and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition without a Licence, contrary to Sections 16(2)(a) and 16(b) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The court granted Campbell bail totalling $300,000—$200,000 for the firearm charge and $100,000 for the ammunition charge.
The matter was adjourned until August 28, 2026.
