The Police SWAT Unit rank involved in the shooting death of Essequibo businessman Orin Boston is under close arrest, says Police Commissioner Nigel Hoppie.

The Commissioner was at the time addressing the media during a rarely held press conference to address the shooting of Boston and subsequent protest action in the community of Dartmouth.

The Police Commissioner maintains a police team was conducting an “anti-crime operation” in Region Two.

The police are yet to say specifically what “prohibited” items were found by the SWAT team which was dispatched from the city to conduct this search.

However, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said that during this operation two persons who were wanted for murder were arrested at Onderneeming.

Boston was shot with a .223 caliber rifle, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told the media during this press briefing.

Boston was  reportedly shot under his arm, a police release said.

On Wednesday, the police said that Boston was never “prosecuted by the police.”

Boston’s shooting death saw protests in the community of Dartmouth which resulted in the blocking of the roadway.
