MoA Strengthens Hydromet Training with Equipment from UNDP

February 6, 2025 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has donated two specialized test kits valued at US$12,983 to the Ministry of Agriculture’s Hydrometeorological Department to support the training of students in refrigeration and air conditioning.
The equipment was provided through the HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) Project, an initiative of the Government of Guyana aimed at reducing the use of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which contribute to ozone depletion.
During the handover ceremony, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha, expressed gratitude to the UNDP for its continued support.
He emphasized the importance of equipping technical institutions with modern training tools to prepare students for the growing demands of Guyana’s evolving economy.
Being equipped with the necessary tools to support the transformation and development that Guyana is currently experiencing remains critical, Minister Mustapha stated.
The donation is expected to enhance vocational training by providing students with hands-on experience in refrigeration and air conditioning, aligning with national and global efforts to adopt environmentally sustainable practices in the field.
