May 23, 2025 – Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, yeesterday held a series of high-level meetings with Toshaos and village leaders from various Amerindian communities on the sidelines of the ongoing National Toshaos Council (NTC) Conference, being hosted at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre from May 19 to 23.

The engagements were part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Agriculture to deepen collaboration with Indigenous leaders and address the distinct agricultural needs of hinterland communities.

Minister Mustapha was accompanied by senior officials from multiple departments within the Ministry, signaling a unified and strategic approach to sectoral development in remote regions.

Discussions focused on several critical areas, including sustainable farming techniques, enhancement of drainage and irrigation systems, and targeted support for agriculture tailored to the economic landscapes of Indigenous villages. The meetings provided an opportunity for village leaders to share their experiences and priorities while acknowledging the government’s responsiveness to their development needs.

Minister Mustapha reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive national development and pledged continued support for initiatives that promote food security, infrastructure improvement, and capacity building in Amerindian communities.
