January 15 2024- The Ministry of Education has announced the relocation of pupils from Dorcas Club Nursery School after the rented facility was deemed unsafe due to significant infrastructural issues.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the decision follows an inspection in August 2024, which highlighted safety risks for both teachers and students. Despite these findings, the landlady has yet to address the concerns or provide a timeline for repairs.

To safeguard the 59 registered children and their teachers, the Ministry initially considered relocating them to a nearby nursery school with available space. However, further review revealed that only 16 of the children live within the Dorcas Club catchment area, while the remaining 43 reside in the zones of seven other nursery schools. This discrepancy showed that many children were attending a school further away from their homes.

After consulting with parents, it was decided that the 43 children outside the Dorcas Club catchment area would be transferred to nursery schools closer to their homes. Meanwhile, the 16 children within the catchment area have been recommended for placement in nearby schools that are more accessible.
