Construction of New Manawarin Secondary School to Begin in October

August 20, 2025
The Amerindian village of Manawarin in Region One will soon have its first secondary school, with construction slated to begin in October.
The new facility will cater to approximately 250 students, providing modern classrooms, science laboratories, and other essential amenities designed to improve access to quality education. According to the Ministry of Education, the school will also serve surrounding villages including Plimpla Creek, Takatu, Mud Creek, Cabacali, St. Nicholas Mission, Central Manawarin, Burahara, Sheepara, Green Field, Mount Zion, and Arrowansa.
Once completed, Manawarin Secondary will become the sixth secondary school in Region One. The government has already commissioned the Northwest and Waramuri secondary schools, while construction continues on Hosororo, Kwebanna, and Matthew’s Ridge secondary schools. These institutions are expected to accommodate hundreds of students in the near future.
The Ministry noted that the expansion of educational infrastructure in the region is aimed at ensuring universal access to secondary education. In the last four years, over $4 billion has been invested in the construction and maintenance of schools across Region One.
Nationally, construction is underway on more than 40 new secondary schools, with 22 being built in hinterland regions—One, Seven, Eight, and Nine—underscoring the government’s commitment to bridging the education gap and providing equal opportunities for all students.
