Minister Condemns Conduct at Student Social

-Signals Accountability for Lapses

Minister of Education Sonia Parag has made it clear: the Ministry will not tolerate inappropriate student behavior. Those responsible for supervision will be held accountable.

See full statement from Minister Parag below:

“I have seen several videos circulating on social media involving students of a particular school clearly engaged in what can only be deemed inappropriate and vulgar behaviour.

Let me be very clear the Ministry of Education DOES NOT condone such behaviour or conduct by students whether it is a Christmas Social or otherwise in schools.

I am also aware that our Deputy Chief Education Officer Admin sent a specific message to HMs and Head teachers of various schools to properly supervise and control any Christmas Social being held by the said schools. It therefore follows that those who should have been supervising these socials must be held accountable. Students must also desist from such behaviour.

It DOES take a village to raise a child, therefore it must be incumbent on us at every level to ensure that that we do our part in discouraging negative behaviour and conduct.”
