April 21, 2025 — A fatal accident occurred at approximately 22:00 hrs on Monday evening along the Moblissa Public Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist and injuries to a minibus driver.

According to a police report, the collision involved three vehicles: a green and silver minibus (registration number BRR 8331) owned by Vibert Amsterdam and driven by 54-year-old Maurice Meredith of Lot 84, 1st Alley, Wismar, Linden; a white motor car (PXX 3747), owned and parked by 53-year-old Alonso Cornelius of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden; and a motorcycle (CL 7080), owned and driven by 39-year-old Markind Jackson of Silver Hill Village, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

According to initial police investigations, the minibus was reportedly traveling south at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and veered into the western lane. The vehicle collided head-on with the motorcycle, which was heading north. The impact pushed the motorcycle and its rider into the stationary car parked along the western side of the road.

As a result of the crash, Jackson sustained severe injuries and was rendered unconscious at the scene. Meredith, the minibus driver, was found semi-conscious. Both men were transported to the Linden Hospital Complex by a passing vehicle with police escort. Jackson was pronounced dead on arrival, while Meredith was admitted for observation and remains under police guard.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Pensioners Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is pending.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident as they continue to gather evidence and determine the cause of the crash.
