Zeelugt Gold Miner Charged for Illegal Possession of Ammunition

A 35-year-old gold miner from Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, has been charged in connection with the alleged possession of ammunition without a firearm licence.
Deoraj Jaggernauth was brought before the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 8, 2025, two days after the alleged offence, which reportedly occurred on Saturday, December 6.
Jaggernauth appeared before His Worship Tariq Mohamed, where he was read a charge of Possession of Ammunition Without Licence, contrary to Section 62(2)(a) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 16:05.
He pleaded not guilty to the allegation and was granted bail in the sum of GYD $100,000.
The case has been adjourned to January 26, 2026.
