Suphane Dash-Alleyne is a 23-year-old environmental activist and youth advocate in Guyana.

She has dedicated most of her life spreading environmental awareness throughout the country.

Suphane recently graduated from the University of Guyana, where she attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies.

She is a child’s right ambassador, an active member in several non-governmental organisations, including; The Caribbean Youth Environment Network, Global shapers Georgetown-Hub, EMC- foundation, among others.

The young woman has also represented Guyana on numerous public forums internationally, regionally and locally.

Shes’s a known guest at events such as the Caribbean Youth Climate Change Activists Conference in 2017, Guyana Youth Parliament in 2019, United Nations Climate Action Summit in 2019.

Suphane has been a part of numerous outreaches and is a public speaker at forums focusing on youth development.

Her passion for environmental activism dates back to her secondary school years, where she had attended St Stanislaus’s College.

She was given the opportunity to travel all across Guyana learning of its diverse ecosystem.

This gave her a better understanding and appreciation for the flora and fauna and the importance of their respective ecosystems, which eventually motivated her to be a voice for the voiceless.

Her main focus is Environmental Education and in 2021, Suphane started her own radio program called ‘Ecospace’ which is airs on 95.5fm.

The program seeks to talk about everything environment and to educate its listeners.

Her continuous activism saw her being recognized, and was awarded a grant by UNICEF through the Climate Change Maker initiative to create a social media campaign focused on educating Guyanese about everything environmentally related and focusing on current issues such as climate change.

This campaign was dubbed ‘Ecospacegy’ and can be followed on all social media platforms.

Suphane pledges to continue her activism throughout her life with focus on educating the masses, as she believes that any movement can be successful if persons understand how issues affect them directly.

She believes that as we enter the environmental revolution Guyanese should not be left in the dark, and Suphane Dash-Alleyne is determined to ensure that we are all equipped with the knowledge of environmental importance.
