VP Calls for Full Transparency in Death of 11-Y-O Adrianna

April 24 2025- Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has called for full accountability and transparency from the Guyana Police Force following the tragic death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge, whose body was discovered in a swimming pool at the Double Day Hotel one day after she was reported missing.
Younge was last seen on Wednesday at the hotel, where she had gone with family. Her body was discovered in the hotel’s pool on Thursday, sparking national outrage and demands for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Speaking at his weekly press conference today, the VP described the situation as an extremely sad day for the country.
He emphasized that both the public and Adrianna’s grieving family are entitled to clear and truthful answers.
He highlighted troubling inconsistencies in the timeline and facts presented so far.
According to a police statement, the swimming pool had been searched the night before the discovery. However, the family maintains that Adrianna was not found during their initial search.
Additionally, CCTV footage reportedly shows the child entering a red and black Raum vehicle with license plate PSS 4684, which allegedly left the hotel heading toward Vreed-en-Hoop.
Dr. Jagdeo has since demanded that the police release the footage in question and provide clarity on how the girl’s body was later found in the same pool.
The government has already announced a full and detailed investigation into the case. The Vice President reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring a complete and transparent process that delivers justice for Adrianna and her family.
