‘Tik Tok Uncle’ faces fresh arrest, freed on bail

January 13 2025
Social media personality popularly known as “Tik Tok Uncle,” Rishi Mangal, was on Tuesday arrested and placed on $20,000 station bail following allegations stemming from comments made during a recent live broadcast on his social media platform.
According to information received, the report was allegedly made by a pastor who took offence to remarks directed at him during the live session. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, leading to Mangal’s arrest.
Mangal is reportedly cooperating fully with investigators as police continue their enquiries into the matter.
This is not the first time the social media figure has found himself in trouble with the law in recent days. Only a few days ago, Mangal was arrested and placed on $100,000 station bail after allegedly making comments about another individual on his social media platform.
In addition, Mangal, along with two other individuals, was previously listed as a person of interest by the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) over videos he released that reportedly contained subjective content.
Following public backlash, Mangal later took to his social media platforms to issue an apology for his comments, stating that he was intoxicated at the time the videos were recorded.
Investigations into the latest matter are ongoing.
