MV BARIMA DISASTER: Couple & two children, with cousin among passengers

A family of five has been identified as among the 133 persons who were on board the MV Barima, which capsized while on a voyage from Georgetown to Port Kaituma, Region 1.

Vanita George, her husband Migel DeJesus, their 6-year-old daughter Jasmine George, their 16-year-old son Enrique George, and Vanita’s nephew Vishawn Ramjattan, an 8-year-old, have been confirmed as passengers on board the vessels when they went into distress Saturday night.

Speaking with BIG Smith News Watch, the mother of Vishawn Ramjattan, Lisa Vanezuela, explained that her son left Parika on Saturday along with his cousin and aunt and uncle.
Relatives said they are still awaiting word on the fate of the five.
