Teen Boy Dies in Accident at Eccles Public Road

March 17 2025- Police have confirmed the death of a 17-Y-O boy, following an accident at Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
According to a statement issued by the Guyana Police Force, the fatal accident occurred on March 14, 2025, at approximately 18:05 hrs.
The accident claimed the life of 17-year-old Ronald Lall, a resident of Third Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
The collision involved motorcar PAJ 7247, driven by a 20-year-old Police Constable from Corentyne, Berbice, and motorcycle CP 5320, ridden by 17-year-old Sean Bourne of Lusignan Grass Field, East Coast Demerara. Lall was the pillion rider on the motorcycle.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Bourne was traveling north along the western carriageway of Eccles Public Road at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic. While overtaking motorcar PAJ 7247, which was traveling in the same direction, the motorcycle collided with the concrete median separating the two carriageways.
The impact reportedly caused Bourne to lose control, resulting in both him and Lall falling onto the road surface in front of the approaching car. The driver of the motorcar attempted to stop but, due to the short distance, was unable to avoid running over both victims, causing them to suffer multiple injuries.
Bourne and Lall were picked up in a conscious state by the driver and public-spirited individuals and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Center. Bourne was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for treatment of fractured ribs and multiple abrasions. His condition is listed as critical.
Lall, however, was self-discharged by relatives from the hospital and transported by ambulance to Woodlands Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The 20-year-old driver of the motorcar has been taken into police custody at the Providence Police Station as investigations continue into the tragic accident.
