Police are investigating the brutal killing of popular tour guide Leon Baird, whose burnt body was discovered inside his vehicle in an area between Wichibi and Sand Creek in the Rupununi.

Investigators have received information suggesting that cattle rustlers may be linked to the killing. The gruesome incident is reported to have occurred over the weekend.

Baird, widely known as “Rasta,” was also employed as a vaquero on a ranch in the region. Reports indicate that he had received several threats from individuals believed to be connected to the rustling of cattle belonging to his employer.

One line of investigation suggests that Baird may have been killed during a confrontation with the suspected thieves. Police investigations are ongoing.
