September 30, 2025 – A 52-year-old Success resident has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing several tyres valued at more than $250,000.

Anthony June, known as ‘Rubber’, a labourer of Success, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on September 19, 2025, and charged 10 days later with simple larceny.

The court heard that between September 11 and 18, June stole eight car tyres and four small truck tyres belonging to Fizul Basirali, together valued at $253,000.

June appeared before His Worship Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #1 on Tuesday morning, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
