Region One dominates track and field at Amerindian Heritage sports

Region One stamped their authority on day two of the Amerindian Heritage Sports Championships on Thursday by dominating track and field at the Everest Sports Club ground.
When the day’s events concluded, Region One amassed 575 points to easily take the track and field title. Region Three finished in a distant second with 263 points while Region Nine copped the third spot with 89 points. Regions Six and Two rounded out the top five with 61 and 51 points respectively.
Russell Skinner was superb in the Javelin throw in the male 30 and over category throwing 42 metres for the easy win. Alistair Peneux of Region six took the silver medal while Leron Allicock finished third for Region Three.
Region One also dominated the 4×100 metres relay, winning both the male and female events.
Moreover, Region One took the top spot in 32 of the 40 events at the track and field championships for the easy title win.
