‘Concrete Man’ Confesses to Killing Child Mother

July 21 2025
Shaka Phillips, also known as ‘Concrete Man,’ a 21-year-old resident of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has confessed to fatally shooting his 26-year-old child-mother, Jenel Pollydore, during a wedding reception at the R&R Hotel.
According to a police report, Phillips was arrested on Sunday and, during a recorded interview with investigators, admitted that on July 19, 2025, he became enraged after repeated calls to Pollydore’s cellphone went unanswered.
According to his statement, he went to the hotel, where Pollydore was attending a wedding reception, and saw her speaking with another man.
Phillips told investigators that he confronted Pollydore about not responding to his calls.
An argument reportedly ensued, during which he said he became upset, drew a firearm from his shoulder bag, and shot her. He stated that as Pollydore fled into the hotel yard, he chased after her and fired additional shots, striking her again.
He then observed her collapse before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
The suspect further confessed to later disposing of the firearm by throwing it into the Demerara River at Adams Boat Landing. Investigators visited the site but were unable to recover the weapon due to high tide conditions.
The interview with Phillips was both audio and video recorded.
Meanwhile, statements have been obtained from multiple eyewitnesses as police continue their investigation.
