Primo’s Auto scammed customers out of $62M—Court hears

November 12 2024 – Omeca Primo, the 36-year-old proprietor of Primo’s Imports and Taxi Service, is now facing an expanded slate of fraud charges, with 55 additional counts brought against her during a recent court appearance, bringing the total to 68 charges of obtaining money by false pretense.
The alleged fraudulent activities, which total more than $62 million, were detailed during her appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday. Primo was denied bail for the third time and remains in custody, with her next court date set for November 25, 2024.
During previous hearings, the police prosecutor outlined that Primo’s alleged scheme impacted dozens of victims across various regions. Many individuals claimed they paid significant sums to Primo for vehicles that were never delivered nor refunded. The prosecutor also alleged that Primo employed multiple aliases and variations of her name, complicating efforts to track her actions.
In addition, the court heard that some victims who publicly discussed their experiences on social media were subjected to threats, allegedly intended to deter them from speaking out.
The charges against Primo emerged from an extensive investigation conducted by the Anti-Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters, following numerous complaints from customers who claimed they paid for vehicles they never received.
The probe intensified last month when a customer reported that a purchased vehicle had been repossessed by BM Soat Auto Sales and Rentals.
According to police sources, Primo is alleged to have been involved in a scheme in which she purchased cars from dealerships and resold them without the authorization or knowledge of the dealerships.
In her initial court appearance last month, Primo faced 13 charges related to $11.3 million in fraud. Represented by attorney Everton Singh-Lammy, she has repeatedly been denied bail due to the gravity and scope of the allegations.
Further charges may be brought against Primo, who hails from Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10, as more alleged victims continue to come forward.
