July 23 2025
As part of ongoing efforts to promote road safety under the 2024/2025 theme “Do the Right Thing,” traffic officers conducted a brief but impactful lecture with drivers along the Madewini Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
The exercise took place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, between 13:00 hrs and 13:20 hrs and was led by Inspector R. Scott, Officer-in-Charge of Traffic #3 Sub-Division, Timehri, and Lance Corporal Dutchin of the Soesdyke Police Outpost Traffic Department.

During the session, several key road safety topics were addressed, including:
-
Zero tolerance for speeding
-
The dangers of drinking and driving
-
Adherence to the five C’s of defensive driving
-
Passenger safety and proper vehicle loading
-
Yielding the right of way to emergency vehicles
-
Remaining alert for pedestrians and animals crossing the road
Drivers were reminded of their responsibility to operate vehicles safely and were encouraged to set a positive example on the road.
The initiative forms part of the Guyana Police Force’s broader strategy to reduce traffic-related incidents and save lives.
