Main Suspect in 2024 Killing of Colene Toney Surrenders to Police

Nicholas Johnson, also known as “Suga,” the prime suspect in the 2024 murder of Colene Toney, has surrendered to authorities more than a year after the fatal incident.
According to a police report, Johnson, a 25-year-old labourer of Mixed Ancestry from Number 51 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, turned himself in to the Springlands Police Station on Monday, July 15, 2025, at approximately 11:10 hrs.
He was accompanied by his attorney, Mr. Chandra Sohan, and was promptly arrested by officers from the station’s Criminal Investigation Department.
He is accused of murdering 28-year-old Colene Toney on February 20, 2024, at Number 53 Village, Corentyne. According to investigators, the fatal incident stemmed from an argument between the two over a mobile phone, during which Toney was allegedly stabbed multiple times.
Johnson had been on the run since the incident, and a wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest.
He remains in police custody as investigations continue. Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
