Nicholas Johnson, also known as “Suga,” the prime suspect in the 2024 murder of Colene Toney, has surrendered to authorities more than a year after the fatal incident.

According to a police report, Johnson, a 25-year-old labourer of Mixed Ancestry from Number 51 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, turned himself in to the Springlands Police Station on Monday, July 15, 2025, at approximately 11:10 hrs.

He was accompanied by his attorney, Mr. Chandra Sohan, and was promptly arrested by officers from the station’s Criminal Investigation Department.

He is accused of murdering 28-year-old Colene Toney on February 20, 2024, at Number 53 Village, Corentyne. According to investigators, the fatal incident stemmed from an argument between the two over a mobile phone, during which Toney was allegedly stabbed multiple times.

Johnson had been on the run since the incident, and a wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest.

He remains in police custody as investigations continue. Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
