CANU Seizes Over 7kg of Cocaine in Beterverwagting Bust

Officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, intercepted a suspect during an intelligence-led operation in Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of cocaine.
According to CANU, the operation led to the arrest of Morris Cameron, who was found carrying a bag containing several parcels. Upon inspection, the parcels were found to contain a whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.
Cameron was promptly taken into custody and escorted to CANU headquarters along with the suspected narcotic. Subsequent testing confirmed the substance was cocaine, with a total weight of 7.860 kilograms.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
