Man mobbed by protesters begs for justice

A 27-year-old taxi driver from Dazzle Housing Scheme is struggling to recover, both physically and emotionally, after he was viciously attacked during the April 28 unrest that erupted nationwide following the tragic death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge.

Andre Culbard was returning home from a funeral when he encountered a group of angry protesters at the Mahaicony Junction in Region Five. Hoping to pass through peacefully, he approached the group and asked for permission to proceed. What followed was a horrifying ordeal.

“They dragged me out of my car and beat me, even as I begged them to stop,” Culbard recounted in a pained interview with BIG Smith News Watch. The attackers left him with multiple injuries to his head and body. His car which is his only means of earning a living — was badly damaged.

Now unable to work and confined by his injuries, Culbard is facing daily hardship. Though some of his wounds may seem minor, he says the pain and immobility have made even the simplest tasks difficult.

But more than financial aid, Andre is seeking justice. He is calling on authorities to find and hold accountable, those who inflicted the violence and destruction upon him.

“The police have been very supportive so far,” he noted, expressing gratitude for their efforts. He is now urging anyone with information about the attackers to come forward and help ensure that justice is served.

Andre’s story is a sobering reminder of the human toll behind the headlines — and a call for peace, accountability, and healing in a time of national pain.
