April 30 2025 – In line with a commitment made by Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, during a recent outreach to Deep South Rupununi, Region Nine, the Guyana Mining School has commenced a targeted training programme for Community Mine Rangers from six Amerindian communities.

Participants from Aishalton, Karaudarnau, Awarewaunau, Churikadnau, Achawib, and Parabara are currently undergoing training focused on key areas such as occupational safety and health in mining operations, mining regulations applicable to rangers, and map reading and GPS navigation.

The initiative aims to equip local rangers with the knowledge and skills needed to promote responsible mining practices while empowering the communities to take an active role in the monitoring and management of their natural resources.
