BREAKING: Suspected grenade thrown at East Ruimveldt Police Outpost

The Bomb Squad was called out just after midnight on Friday May 16, 2025 after a loud explosion was heard in the vicinity of the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost in East Ruimveldt , Georgetown Guyana.
Police sources who spoke with this publication indicated that while inside, ranks heard a loud explosion and when they came out, they saw the back gate off the police outpost ripped off.
It was then related that just before the explosion or just around the moment of the explosion, a car passed the station and slowed down, before speeding off.
It is suspected that the suspected grenade was tossed from the vehicle at the police outpost.
Our sources have indicated that based on the extent of the damage to the police building and nearby buildings the bomb squad and detectives are of the view that is was a grenade that was used and that the police outpost from all indications, was the intended target.
The matter remains an active investigation even as the police have been reviewing their smart city cameras for any clues which may aid in the probe.
