Man shot dead at birthday celebration

DEAD: Osafa Pollars
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Osafo Pollard, a 29 year old Taxi Driver who hails from West LaPenitence.

Pollard was shot once to head with the bullet exiting his ear. He was at the time part of a gathering for a birthday celebration on North East LaPenitence in Georgetown.

Police sources indicated that the shooting took place just after 22:00hrs at Lot YY22 North East La Penitence.

The police were told that the birthday party which was attended by approximately 40 persons who were occupying two gaps at the time.

Sometime during the little party, a loud explosion resembling that of a gunshot was heard and persons began scattering.

One woman, Carleton Hope whose daughter Birthday it was, said that after she saw the persons running, she went in the firethorn of the loud explosion and saw the young man lying on the ground bleeding from a wound to the head.

The Victim was taken to the Georgetown Public hospital and died about 00:20hrs on Wednesday morning.

One .32 spent shell, one warhead, a red cap and a white vest with what appear to be blood on same were found at the scene.

Several persons were questioned and CCTV cameras were seen in the area are not in working order
