CID Sergeant among five arrested by CANU as cocaine found

Those arrested by CANU on Monday Evening 

Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit on Monday evening arrested five persons including a Guyana Police Force Detective Sergeant after a quantity of cocaine was found in a microwave inside a house they were all occupying.

CANU sources indicated to BIG Smith News Watch that on Monday 8, August, 2022, officers from CANU acted in accordance with intelligence they received.

The ranks moved to Lot 2 Norton Street Wortmanville  Georgetown where they conducted a narcotics operation where the cocaine was found.

Those arrested as a result of the find and continued investigations into the matter are:

33 Years Old DION BASCOM, A Sergeant attached to the Guyana Police Force Criminal Investigation Department.

45 Year old ANDRE CLARKE, unemployed

19 Year Old SERENA MENTUS, Accounts Clerk attached to the Bureau of Statistics.

26 Year Old AKEEM LASHLEY, Weeder

And

54 Year Old RODWELL GEORGE, A Rural Constable attached to the Guyana Police Force.

The cocaine which was discovered is said to be 1.560 kilograms.

The arrested persons are assisting CANU with its investigation.
