Two hit in East Coast Demerara drive-by shooting

Two friends were on Tuesday evening shot and injured in a drive-by shooting at Melanie Public Road, East Coast Demerara. One of the injured has been identified as Ryan Joseph, a 27-year-old gold sampler.

Persons on the scene told BIG Smith News Watch that a car pulled up where the young men were liming and two individuals opened fire in the direction of Ryan and his friend.

The two friends attempted to run to safety even after being shot but fell on the roadway and were immediately picked up and rushed for medical attention.

Ryan is said to be nursing gunshot wounds to the chest and foot while his friend was shot multiple times about the body.

Speaking with BIG Smith News Watch, an uncle of Ryan Joseph explained that he was watching television when he heard what appeared to be gunshots.

He looked outside and saw persons firing shots at his nephew and his friend. Ryan’s mother also related the same story. She also stated that she saw her son and his friend running to save their lives and she began to scream as the young men fell onto the roadway.

The woman said she has no knowledge of any issues her son might have had with anyone.

on Tuesday evening when this publication visited the scene, the police were still on the scene combing the area for evidence and gathering whatever information they could to bring the perpetrators to justice.
