A police constable attached to the Rose Hall Police Outpost is in a serious condition and receiving medical attention after the car PVV 3113 which he was driving around 21:30hrs Wednesday night slammed into a culvert. He was

BIG Smith News Watch has been told that constable 24454 Dellon Harvey was proceeding at a fast rate of speed along the No. 60 Public Road when he swerved from a flock of cows which was on the roadway and ended up slamming into a concrete culver then into a metal gate, an occupant of the car told police traffic ranks.

As a result of the impact, the entire car became wrangled and the police constable was pinned inside. The occupant was assisted out of the vehicle by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.

Shortly after, a Guyana Fire Service tender along with three ranks, members of the Guyana Police Force and a team from the Skeldon Hospital arrived at the location assisted the driver out of the vehicle.

He was taken to the hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who treated and referred him to New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment. His condition regards as serious with his intestine protruding. The police are continuing their investigations into the matter.

Just last week two policemen and two nurses almost lost their lives along the said Corentyne Road after a police swerved his vehicle to avoid hitting a cow which was reportedly standing in the middle of the road.
