60066  was on Friday charged and remanded to prison for trafficking a quantity of marijuana.

Morris of Lot 26 Second Street, Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown, appeared before  Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that on August 27, 2021, at Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown, he had in his possession 210 kilogrammes (463 pounds) of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him.

He was remanded to prison until September 22.

A few days ago, Morris surrendered to Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), after a wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest in relation to a drug bust.

It was reported that CANU  ranks conducted a joint operation with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) that resulted in the seizure of over 540 pounds of marijuana.

During the operation, two locations were searched as well as a route 32 (Georgetown – Parika) minibus, and two individuals were initially taken into custody.

In addition to Morris, Joseph Wilkinson, and Ajay Mahadeo were also charged in relation to the drug bust. They are accused of being in possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

They too were remanded to prison.
