IT Technician Imprisoned for Sharing Ex-Girlfriend’s Nude Photos

November 24 2025
Thirty-four-year-old Jeremy Gordon Smith, an IT technician, was sentenced on Monday to 24 months in jail and fined $2.5 million after being found guilty of cybercrime charges related to his ex-girlfriend.
Smith committed the offences following the end of his relationship with the woman, during which he reportedly stalked her, damaged her property, and even threatened her life through phone calls and text messages.
He had previously faced two charges: illegal possession of electronic data and the use of a computer system to publish obscene videos of his former partner.
The first charge stated that between March 11, 2023, and May 6, 2023, at Lot 139 Silverballi Road, Meadowbrook, Smith intentionally acquired electronic data of the woman, including videos and photographs of an obscene nature, to cause her shame.
The second charge alleged that on May 27 and July 16, 2024, at the same location, he used a computer system to publish these videos and photographs to cause her distress.
During earlier court proceedings, Smith pleaded not guilty to both charges. Initially charged in July 2024, he was released on a total bail of $150,000, with reporting conditions, while awaiting trial.
Following the trial, a city magistrate found Smith guilty and imposed a custodial sentence of 24 months and a fine of $2.5 million.
