Cops baffled as PM confirms Mahaicony man was shot in head

November 24 2025
A post-mortem examination has confirmed that Mahaicony resident Sesupaul Ramgobin was shot in the head, leaving investigators puzzled as to why anyone would target the 52-year-old, who relatives and neighbours described as a quiet, mentally challenged man who lived alone.
The examination, conducted on Monday, November 24, revealed that Ramgobin died from “shock and haemorrhage, which was due to a gunshot injury.”
Bullet fragments were removed from the back of his skull, but police are still working to determine the calibre of the weapon used.
“He was clearly murdered, but we still don’t know why or who did it,” an official told Big Smith News Watch. “He lived alone and was said to be mentally ill. Neighbours said he would be seen sitting on his steps and he never troubled anyone.”
Ramgobin, known as ‘John Paul,’ was killed outside his Quakers Hall, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara home at around 23:00 hrs on Friday, November 21.
Relatives reported hearing “an explosion” before finding him motionless on his step. He had been shot to the back of his head and also had other injuries to his upper body.
Police investigations are ongoing.
