Govt Officials Meet with Region Six Farmers

October 8 2024 – Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance and Public Service, Dr Ashni Singh and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo met with residents and farmers in Region Six (Corentyne-Berbice) yesterday to discuss the government’s plans for major investments in the agriculture sector.

 

The meeting focused on how farmers can benefit from these initiatives, which aim to boost productivity and enhance the livelihoods of those in the farming community.

 

During the engagement, Vice President Jagdeo outlined key strategies for modernizing the sector, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting farmers with new technologies, infrastructure, and financial assistance.

 

He emphasized that these investments are part of a broader plan to transform agriculture in the region and across the country.

 

Dr. Ashni Singh, reinforced the government’s dedication to ensuring that farmers receive the necessary support for sustainable development.

 

Farmers expressed their concerns and ideas during the meeting, which was seen as a valuable opportunity for direct dialogue with key decision-makers.

 

The event underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector and improve the lives of farmers.
