President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, addressed the launch and dedication ceremony for the newly refurbished Physics and Chemistry Laboratories and Staff Room at St. Stanislaus College in Georgetown, this evening.

A former student of the school, President Ali emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that enhance educational standards, particularly for future generations.

He stressed that investments in education, especially in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, are essential for the nation’s economic growth.

In his address, President Ali challenged the board and teachers to ensure the school remains aligned with national development goals, linking education to creativity, innovation, and Guyana’s broader aspirations.

Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, also spoke at the event, highlighting St. Stanislaus College as Guyana’s leading institution in delivering hybrid education.

She praised the school’s flexible and cooperative board, which facilitated the government’s partnership in refurbishing the labs and staff room.

The Minister also revealed plans for further expansions, which will include additional laboratories, classrooms, and amenities.

Once these renovations are completed, the school will be handed over to its capable alumni and board, aiming for self-sufficiency.

Minister Manickchand further stated that St. Stanislaus College has a long-standing reputation for preparing its students for national service, contributing significantly to the country’s leadership.

Among the dignitaries present were Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar, Chief of Staff Brigadier Omar Khan, British High Commissioner Jane Miller, and Chief Education Officer Saddam Hussain.
