October 8 2024 – 50-Y-O Michael Thomas, a businessman of Bachelors Adventure, East Coast Demerara, was arrested last night for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm near the Route 44 minibus park on Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown. The incident occurred around 8:20 PM.

According to police reports, officers on mobile patrol near the Route 50 (Berbice) bus park heard what sounded like a gunshot.

Upon approaching the Route 44 bus park, they observed Thomas placing what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband.

A search was conducted by a police sergeant, leading to the discovery of a .32 Taurus pistol, two magazines, and 14 rounds of ammunition. A spent shell was also recovered at the scene.

Thomas produced a valid firearm licence when questioned, but was taken into custody and escorted to Brickdam Police Station.

The firearm, ammunition, and spent shell were placed into evidence bags and sealed for ballistics analysis. No injuries were reported, and investigations are ongoing.
