Police CCU head mute amidst claims ‘Senior Officer’ linked to gangs and druglords

Head of the Guyana Police Force Corporate Communications Unit Mark Ramotar remains silent on questions from this publication on reports in the media that claims a senior officer within the Guyana Police Force might be linked to elements within the criminal underworld.
Over the last few days, media establishments carried articles that spoke to the alleged involvement of a senior police officer having links to the criminal underworld, drugs, and gun runnings. It is also alleged that the officer might be providing cover for criminal elements and criminal gangs operating within Guyana.
Asked for an official comment on these matters, Ramotar completely ignored this publication and opted to provide updates on a police community walkabout and a pageant delegate’s visit to the office of a police commander.
Two weeks ago, On Saturday, September 20, 2024, this publication broke the news that detectives were ordered to stand down while preparing to act on intelligence which could have led to the apprehension and or discovery of (1) suspect in the Joshua David abduction or (2) the whereabouts of David or his remains.
Several days after, Friday, October 4, 2024, Television Journalist Travis Chase broke the news of a senior officer being implicated as the link between the elements in the drugs and criminal underworld and the Guyana Police Force. It is alleged that the officer might know about the abduction of David.
Further, on Sunday, October 08, 2024, Kaieteur News carried an article highlighting the issue, that a serving uniform rank within the Guyana Police Force below the rank of Commissioner of Police might be involved in criminal activities. No name(s) were mentioned against the allegations raised in the media reports.
On Sunday, October 08, 2024, an online media establishment published the photograph of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravindradat Bhudram where glorious tributes were directed to him and his policing and academic achievements. The article stated, that recently Budram has come under attack by persons afraid of change and who believe he would be promoted to a higher office.
It is unclear what if any; other motivating factors caused or influenced the online platform to offer such glowing tributes to Ravindradat Bhudram.
Given the serious nature of the information that the press has been reporting on and the searching questions, while not naming an officer, the media has reached out to Corporate Communications Unit head Mark Ramotar who in the usual fashion, has been selective in what the media queries he responds to..
