Defence Headquarters take command of GDF Athletics Championship

Defence Headquarters (DHQ) is on fire, blazing ahead as the dominant force in the Guyana Defence Force Annual Athletics Championship at Camp Ayanganna.

Heading into the penultimate day of this thrilling showdown today, October 9, DHQ has amassed a staggering 111.50 points, leaving their rivals in the dust.

Base Camp Ayanganna trails in a distant second with 62 points, while the Coast Guards are fighting valiantly in third with 51 points.
The competition is fierce, with the Fourth Engineer Battalion and First Infantry Battalion locked in a neck-and-neck battle for fourth place, each boasting 42 points. Hot on their heels, the 31st Special Forces Squadron and 21st Artillery Company are giving it their all in fifth with 40.50 points.

As of Wednesday October 8, the championship has surged through 34 exhilarating events with Base Camp Stephenson sitting in sixth with 36 points, while the Guyana National Reserve holds seventh place with 28 points. The Third Infantry Battalion is close behind in eighth with 26 points, and the Training Corps rounds out the rankings at 18 points.

The electrifying action continues today, with athletes pushing their limits and the stakes higher than ever, culminating in a dramatic finale on Friday.
