November 6 2024– Ramesh Ramdeen, a 25-year-old resident of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, has admitted to his role in the 2019 killing of fisherman Noel Singh.

Initially charged with murder, Ramdeen recently entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter in the Demerara High Court before Justice Jo Ann Barlow.

Dead: Noel Singh

His sentencing is scheduled for November 21, 2024.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of October 20, 2019, outside Singh’s Meten-Meer-Zorg home.

According to reports, Ramdeen—known by his nickname “Braffy”—launched a violent attack on 19-year-old Singh, stabbing him multiple times, including a fatal wound to the chest.

Witnesses recounted seeing Ramdeen push Singh into a gutter after the stabbing, where he was later discovered by shocked bystanders who immediately called for emergency assistance.

Singh’s injuries proved fatal before medical help could arrive.

Attorney Kiswana Jefford represented Ramdeen, while State Prosecutors Praneta Seeraj, Mikel Puran, and Rbina Christmas presented the case.

An autopsy report confirmed that Singh’s death was due to a punctured heart caused by the stabbing.

Following the attack, authorities launched a manhunt, resulting in Ramdeen’s capture two days later in Parika, East Bank Essequibo.

The plea deal accepted by Ramdeen marks a turning point in the case, offering some closure to the Rampersaud family, who have awaited justice for nearly five years.
