‘Dhall Back’ to be Sentenced for Killing Wife

November 6 2024 – Nicholas Shawn Williams, commonly known as “Dhall Back,” has admitted responsibility for the 2020 killing of his estranged partner, Clarabel Johnson, after pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge before Justice Jo Ann Barlow at the Demerara High Court.
Initially charged with murder, Williams accepted a plea agreement for the lesser charge.
His sentencing is set for November 21, 2024.
The fatal incident occurred on October 6, 2020, in Albouystown, Georgetown. According to investigators, Williams, 50, attacked Johnson, 28, in the street near her Cooper Street residence.
He reportedly inflicted a severe chop to the back of her right knee, severing a major artery.
The wound caused extensive blood loss, and despite the efforts of nearby citizens who rushed her to the Georgetown Public Hospital, Johnson succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Following the attack, Williams fled the scene but was arrested later that evening on James Street, Albouystown.
Police confirmed his capture and noted his cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
Johnson, a mother of three, had been separated from Williams for several years, citing a history of abuse. She had moved back in with her parents while Williams operated a bicycle repair shop within the community.
Represented by attorney Kiswana Jefford, Williams faced the prosecution team led by state attorneys Praneta Seeraj, Mikel Puran, and Rbina Christmas.
