The Guyana Police Force ushered in the holiday season on Sunday evening with its annual “Christmas in Eve Leary” Tree Light-Up at Police Headquarters in Georgetown.

The event, a longstanding tradition for the Force, drew a large gathering of officers, families, and supporters who came together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

During the ceremony, Commissioner of Police Mr Clifton Hicken highlighted that the tree-lighting event once again served as an important seasonal tradition at Eve Leary, symbolizing the official start of the Force’s Christmas activities.

He encouraged attendees to enjoy the celebrations while keeping safety at the forefront.

The Commissioner posited that the GPF’s holiday policing plan, which began on November 15, is already in full effect.

He outlined that this initiative is designed to maintain heightened safety throughout the festive period, with officers deployed in increased numbers across the country.

The evening also spotlighted the creativity within the Guyana Police Force, with commendations offered for the impressive talent showcased.

Entertainment featured special performances by Calypso Monarch Sergeant Quincy “EGO” Lacon, Carlvin Burnette, and the Guyana Police Force Orchestra, bringing music and festive cheer to the compound.

With the massive tree illuminated and festivities in full swing, the event marked a joyful and spirited beginning to the GPF’s Christmas celebrations
